SHORT AUTOBIOGRAPHY
Vladimir Baggay Paraiso was born on December 13, 1977 in Sta. Cruz, Manila. He is in fact an immense, mysterious, diligent, systematic and kind. He is a very zealous person, he never left any activity undone no matter how hard it is or not. He makes sure that everything that he started is completed. He is a very inquisitive person, jolly to his chums, candid and sensible as well. He stands 5’6” and weighs 150 lbs.
Vlad or Vladi as he is called by his confreres and classmates, grew up in Camarin, Caloocan City – a component city of the National Capital Region. He’s always grateful to God for giving him a family who become also the source of his inspiration in every endeavor that he is undertaking. He has 3 siblings, two gorgeous sisters and one cute brother who passed away during his infancy. Though ravaged by family discord during his late childhood and pre-adolescence period, he managed to finish his elementary education. At an early stage, he firmly believes that education is the key to success. It is an exigency if you really have an ardent desire to reach the lofty position. To quote our national hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal, “The youth is the hope of the fatherland.” The youth indeed will be the hope of our society if they are educated in a holistic manner.
In 1984, he started his formal education as first grade pupil in Francisco Balagtas Elementary School (Manila). He had a congenital dislike for study that time and it reflected on the outcome of his grade. In the outbreak of EDSA 1 in 1986, his family transferred to Camarin, Caloocan City due to the misunderstanding between his grandfather and the landlady. In his third grade, he initially enrolled in Cielito Zamora Memorial School (Caloocan) but before the culmination of the first grading, he transferred to Payompon Elementary School (Occidental Mindoro). He was supposed to be the first honor there but it was deprived of him merely because he was a transferee. He decided to return in Cielito Zamora Memorial School to pursue his fourth grade. The separation of his parents causes a tremendous psychological impact to his study. Fortunately, on March 1990, he was able to graduate in elementary.
To evade being further a battered child which traumatize him a lot, he decided to apply for the scholarships granted by the Sisters of Mary School-an institution that equips young men and women to be a God-fearing and law abiding citizen – ready to face the adversities of the world by providing them free quality education integrated with vocational courses which helps them to be gainfully employed by prestigious companies after graduating in high school
He was a Best in Religion (twice) and an honor student though not consistent because he was haunted by the notion of family conflict in the outside. Life inside the SMS is a combination of bliss, excitement, melancholy and trepidation. All of those are part of life not to impair us but to improve us. In a way, he is very proud of the school that he frequently harps about it everywhere he goes and to every person he meets. He is indebted to God, to Fr. Al Schwartz- the school founder, who departed already and now enjoying the light of God’s presence, Mo. Michaela Kim, Superior General, Fr. Urrutia, SJ, school chaplain (deceased), Sr. Ge-an (Gemma Andrea) Torres, Sr. Lucy Magtoto, Sr. Norie Espulgar, Sr. Teresita Prudente, faculty members, his batchmates/classmates. Last but not the least, to all the donors and benefactors of the Sisters of Mary for without their avid financial support, the institution’s program will not materialize.
During the third quarter of his high school, on October 11, 1993, at the early age of 15 turning 16, he started to work as OJT in Toyota Motor Philippines Corp., pioneering in the welding line of Toyota Tamaraw FX. He managed to finish his high school education through module system every weekend. His work incapacitated him in the honor roll. During his 5th year in Toyota, he enrolled in PUP Taguig with the course of Bachelor in Business Administration. In the next succeeding year, he resigned from his work.
